Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are chasing Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez for the summer.
At the start of this month, Sport Witness covered claims from France that PSG have the striker as their main target. The same source also stated Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli is the back up option.
Last week, we covered claims from Spain that Arsenal and PSG are in the picture, when covering Barcelona interest. They want to bring him to the Camp Nou, but the finances of the operation remain complicated.
The Argentina international has been leading the La Liga side’s attack since joining them from Manchester City in August 2024. He has 18 goals and nine assists from 45 matches this season.

PSG can be an option as they have been pursuing him, along with Arsenal. Mikel Arteta has made the World Cup winner the top priority in the summer for the attacking position.
This would have convinced them to make advances as the report state the Gunners ‘just made a concrete move’, likely to beat PSG and others.
Arsenal are said to have submitted an offer to the South American, outlining the details of personal terms. As of now, there’s no agreement between the two parties, and the Emirates club hope to sort this out soon before making advances with Atlético.
Surprisingly, Media Foot make no mention of Barcelona, who are regularly named as a firm contender in Spain.

Julián Alvarez has a contract until 2030, and Atlético Madrid would be hoping to offer him an extension.
Transfer market value him at €90m, and the highest was €100m in June 2025. The striker is represented by agent Fernando Hidalgo.
