Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa is being linked with a return to former club Juventus in the January transfer window
Juventus are considering whether to test Federico Chiesa’s desire to play in the World Cup by making a loan offer for the Liverpool striker. Chiesa has emerged as one of several potential January signings for the Serie A side, who have been transformed since former Italy national team and Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti replaced Igor Tudor in the dugout in October.
A report in the Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed Chiesa, who left Juventus for Liverpool in the summer of 2024, is among a raft of targets being assessed.
Juventus are expected to strengthen their squad when the January window opens this week, although the ECHO understands Liverpool haven’t received any official contact over a possible move.

However, the Italian side could offer the prospect of greater game time for Chiesa to impress Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso with the Azzurri still in with a chance of qualifying for next summer’s World Cup via the play-off route in March.
Having ruled himself out of recent Italian squads due to lack of match fitness, Chiesa has previously made no secret of his “dream” of playing in the World Cup.
While the 28-year-old has made a greater impact this season under Arne Slot with two goals and three assists in 18 appearances, the majority have come from the bench with Saturday’s win over Wolves only the second Premier League game he has started since moving to Liverpool.
In all competitions, Chiesa has managed just 453 minutes although that has already almost matched his tally for the entirety of his debut Anfield campaign.
And with Alexander Isak ruled out for several months with a fractured leg and Mohamed Salah on Africa Cup of Nations, Chiesa remains an important squad player particularly with the FA Cup on the horizon and the Champions League resuming next month.
