Ally vs Fletch Premier League predictions: Newcastle to edge Chelsea in thriller? Can Manchester United halt Aston Villa’s title charge?

Highlights: Arsenal snatch late, huge win against Wolves

Ally McCoist and Darren Fletcher are back again with their Premier League predictions ahead of this weekend’s action.

The pair are confident that the weekend will start with a cracking game as Newcastle United host Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Eddie Howe’s side will be looking for a reaction in front of their home crowd after slipping to a disappointing derby day defeat at Sunderland last week.

Do the TNT Sports duo also anticipate victories for Manchester United and Liverpool this weekend?

Liverpool are hopeful of continuing their unbeaten run in Mohamed Salah’s absence, while Ruben Amorim’s side face a daunting trip to high-flying Aston Villa.

Selected matches:

Newcastle v Chelsea (TNT Sports)

Ally: “It’s a brilliant game to look forward to. Chelsea enjoyed a late win in midweek in the Carabao Cup against Cardiff, while it was a big win for Eddie Howe as Newcastle beat Fulham. Is Enzo Maresca under a bit of pressure? He made it clear that he was not too happy. I think this game will be a tough one for Chelsea, and I’m going for a home win.”

Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Chelsea

Fletch: “You’ve got a team that is good at home facing a team that is good away. I’m expecting goals in this fixture, and I’m really looking forward to it. Chelsea forward Joao Pedro seems to be scoring all of his goals away, while Newcastle stars Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes have been scoring goals at home. I think it’s going to be a high-scoring game and, based on that, I’m just going to give the edge to Newcastle.”

Prediction: Newcastle 3-2 Chelsea

Aston Villa v Manchester United

Ally: “What a run Villa are on! I can’t see anything other than a home win in this one. I don’t think it’ll be emphatic, and I’m not sure if it’ll be too comfortable for them, but recent results will show you that Villa are the in-form side and, with that in mind, I’m backing them to win and continue their incredible run.”

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 Manchester United

Fletch: “This will be a good game. Manchester United can score goals but can’t seem to stop anybody. Villa are really good at home and I think Unai Emery’s side are going to have too much for them.”

Prediction: Aston Villa 3-1 Manchester United
