Mohamed Salah is currently with the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations and remains unavailable for Liverpool
Some Liverpool players have reacted to Mohamed Salah’s latest update after starring for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations. Salah was in action for his country on Friday as they faced South Africa in their second group stage match of the competition.
The 33-year-old will not be available for Liverpool during Egypt’s participation in the tournament, with his last appearance coming as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Brighton on December 13 in the Premier League.
Egypt claimed a 1-0 win over South Africa with Salah on the score sheet from the penalty spot.
After the game, Salah took to Instagram to post a photo of himself smiling from the Egypt dressing room. The post received more than 200,000 likes, including some from Salah’s teammates at Liverpool.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Kaide Gordon and Jay Spearing all liked the post from Salah, as did former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
The victory for Egypt means they have secured their spot in the last-16 of the Africa Cup of Nations, which means Salah will not be available for Liverpool for even longer.
Egypt still have one more group game at AFCON, which will see them take on Angola on Monday afternoon.
The last-16 matches for Egypt are scheduled to take place between January 3 and January 6, which would see more fixtures that Salah would miss for Liverpool.
The Reds will face Wolves on Saturday before taking on Leeds United on New Year’s Day. Liverpool will then travel to face Fulham on January 4, which will also see the Reds without Salah in their ranks.
Even if Egypt are knocked out of AFCON in a game on January 3, it remains to be seen if Salah would then be available to feature for Liverpool on January 8 against Arsenal in the Premier League.
