‘100% speculation’ – Chelsea boss Maresca dismisses links to Man City

Newcastle United take on Chelsea at St James’ Park in both sides’ last Premier League encounter before Christmas.
The Magpies endured a bruising 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in their last league outing, a result that extended their winless run against their closest rivals to ten Premier League matches.
Head coach Eddie Howe, unprompted, apologised for the result and performance in his post-match news conference.
Newcastle bounced back with a 2-1 victory against Fulham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, and now they will hope to return to winning ways in the league when they take on Chelsea.
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca cryptically claimed he had endured his “worst 48 hours” in charge of Chelsea directly after their 2-0 victory over Everton.
Since then, they beat Cardiff City 3-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Maresca has also been linked in reports to the Manchester City job if Pep Guardiola leaves next summer. But Maresca has dismissed that as “pure speculation”.
Here’s all the information you will need to watch the Blues’ trip to St James’ Park.
