Utd target Adeyemi

Reports in Germany have linked Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi with Manchester United.

There could be a £70 million release clause in his new contract, and United are said to have made contact with the player’s agent already.

The Daily Star explains: “German newspaper BILD revealed the winger is currently negotiating a fresh contract that would feature a release clause worth approximately £70 million.

“The 23-year-old has been linked with numerous clubs, including United. A November report from BILD claimed The Red Devils had approached Adeyemi’s representative, Jorge Mendes.

“Inter Milan have also shown interest, and both locations could certainly be seen as major European hotspots that would appeal to the footballer’s wife.”

Ashley in hunt for Wednesday takeover

Mike Ashley is one of three leading contenders to take control of stricken Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Other potential buyers are Dunfermline Athletic owner James Bord, and a US consortium featuring John McEvoy and the Storch family.

The Mirror writes: “Former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is among the bidders still in contention to take charge of Sheffield Wednesday. Long-term owner Dejphon Chansiri was forced to put the club into administration in October, with the takeover saga ongoing.

“Dunfermline Athletic owner James Bord is part of a separate consortium in the mix.

“The third interested party is an American consortium. John McEvoy and the Storch family, previously part of rival groups which might have launched bids, are now said to have joined forces.”

Tomiyasu nears Ajax deal

Takehiro Tomiyasu seems poised to join Ajax on a short-term deal until the end of the current season.

The 27-year-old had been without a club since leaving Arsenal in the summer after ending his deal in north London.

The Sun relays BBC reports, stating: “Former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is on the verge of joining a new club.

“The Japan international has been a free agent since mutually terminating his contract with The Gunners in July.

“Many expected the injury-prone right back to immediately find a new club, but he struggled to do so. But he’s reportedly now on the verge of joining Dutch giants Ajax.

“That’s according to The BBC, who claim the 27-year-old is set to sign a short-term deal with the Eredivisie club.”

PSG target Everton forward Gago

Paris Saint-Germain are keen on bringing Everton forward Kelly Gago to the French capital this January.

The 26-year-old has impressed for Everton since her December 2024 transfer, and is rated at around £500,000.

The Athletic reports: “Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing France forward Kelly Gago from Everton in the January transfer window.

“Gago, 26, signed for Everton in December 2024 from FC Nantes for a non-disclosed fee and scored five goals in 12 appearances across all competitions for the club, including four in the Women’s Super League.

“Her form earned her a three-year contract extension in the summer, making her Everton’s highest-paid player, according to sources, who, like all mentioned in this article, wished to remain anonymous to protect relationships.

“According to multiple sources, Everton’s valuation of the striker is around £500k, representing a significant turnover for Everton, who bought the forward from Nantes for a nominal fee. Conversations regarding a potential move away to PSG remain in initial stages and a transfer fee has yet to be agreed, sources said.”
