Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was powerless to stop Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards clashing over Mohamed Salah live on air as they discussed the saga on CBS Sports
Thierry Henry found himself playing peacemaker between Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards as the pair locked horns over Mohamed Salah.
On Saturday, Salah launched a scathing attack on Liverpool and Arne Slot following his third consecutive appearance on the substitutes’ bench during the dramatic 3-3 draw with Leeds. In his post-match comments to reporters, he accused the club of “throwing him under the bus” and suggested his rapport with the manager had deteriorated beyond repair.
The 33-year-old also took aim at Carragher during his outburst, declaring: “I know the club too well, I have been here many years. Tomorrow Carragher is going to go for me again and again, and that’s fine.”

After keeping quiet on Sunday, Carragher hit back at Salah during Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football programme. He slammed the Egyptian winger for what he viewed as a deliberate assault on both the club and Slot.
The row rumbled on into Tuesday as the UEFA Champions League resumed with Liverpool taking on Inter Milan. Salah was omitted from the matchday squad entirely, leaving question marks over when he might next pull on a Reds shirt.
During CBS’ Champions League broadcast, Carragher and Richards found themselves debating Salah’s explosive comments. Richards indicated he could sympathise with Salah’s grievances, which seemed to catch his co-pundit off guard.
When Carragher pressed him on which aspect of the winger’s frustration he could relate to, the former Manchester City defender replied: “That his frustration, or what he’s done, not coming on in games.”
Carragher queried which match Richards would have introduced Salah in, to which he responded: “I would have put him on against Leeds when (Liverpool) needed another goal. Leeds were in the game, putting pressure, and at times, they could have been exposed on the counterattack.
“They know about Salah, they know his record from previous years, he can get you a goal- Yes, his form’s not been great, but I understand his frustration.”
Carragher wasn’t buying it, promptly cutting off Richards as the pair engaged in a heated debate over the specifics and blame allocation regarding when exactly Salah could have influenced the match. Amidst their verbal tussle, Henry attempted to interject by raising his hand – but was overlooked.
The argument raged on between Carragher and Richards, with Henry and Kate Scott merely observing from the end of the desk. The focus of the dispute then shifted towards Slot, with Richards expressing disbelief at some of Carragher’s remarks.
Henry, weary of being sidelined, simply rose and walked behind Carragher, lightly kneading the exasperated former Liverpool defender’s shoulders. He then altered his approach before moving over to Richards.
After concluding his massage on Richards, Henry positioned himself between the two pundits as their squabble persisted. Carragher took a gulp of water to regain his composure, while Henry returned to Scott and quipped: “You started them!”
The entire confrontation spanned more than three minutes. Carragher is still notably irked by the whole incident, though his spirits probably lifted as Liverpool clinched a victory at the San Siro, courtesy of Dominik Szoboszlai.
