Liverpool secured a much-needed win against Inter Milan on Tuesday, with Arne Slot’s side doing the job despite not even having Mohamed Salah in the squad
Jamie Carragher has been granted his wish as Liverpool beat Inter Milan without Mohamed Salah.
Salah, 33, was left out of Liverpool’s squad for their Champions League trip to San Siro after he gave a bombshell interview following the Reds’ 3-3 draw at Leeds United on Saturday. Speaking to reporters, the Egypt international accused the club of throwing him under the bus and said he had no relationship with boss Arne Slot.
Carragher provided a passionate response to Salah’s comments on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, with the ex-Liverpool defender branding the forward as a “disgrace” and said it was “choreographed by him and his agent to cause maximum damage”. Carragher also suggested that Salah was trying to get Slot sacked.

Then on Tuesday afternoon, in response to a social media post from Salah, Carragher admitted he hadn’t wanted Liverpool to “win a game more than tonight for a long time”.
And the Reds managed to do the job for Carragher, as they ran out 1-0 winners at Inter with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring the decisive goal from the penalty spot. After Florian Wirtz was brought down inside the box, Szoboszlai fired the ball past Yann Sommer from 12 yards.
Providing his reaction post-match, Carragher quote tweeted his earlier post and said: “Get in,” alongside a flexed biceps emoji and the red love heart emoji.
In truth, Liverpool deserved to beat Inter. They were the better side for the most part and recorded more shots, shots on target and had a better expected goals (xG).
It was a much-needed result for Slot, too, with the Dutchman coming under more pressure following Salah’s interview and a run of one win in six matches.
Reflecting on an impressive win for the Reds and Salah’s absence, former Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge said on Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of the game. “He (Salah) is going to be watching at home wishing he was here, wishing he could have helped the team.
“In the moment there is a level of reflection, because it is so raw now and it is so fresh it is hard to reflect on the situation. We are in it. We have all been through ups and downs.
“I think for Mo right now, I think he wants to help the team get back to where they have been which was at the top. I think watching what’s happened you want to be part of it. you’re at home, you’re sat there.
“This goes for players who are injured and players who are in this situation, the last thing you want to do is not be part of it. I think that is, of course, going to be hurting him because he knows. He loves playing for this club, I know this. Mo has told me ‘I love this football club. I don’t want to leave this club. This is where I want to be’.
“He wants to be a Liverpool player but he wants to play. I think they will have a conversation. I can’t speak for Mo and what he is going to do, I don’t know how he is going to feel but I think there needs to be another conversation between the manager and Mohamed Salah.”
