Brackley Town vs Burton Albion LIVE

BRACKLEY 1-3 BURTON – Report

Tyrese Shade’s first career hat-trick helped League One Burton Albion sidestep a potential FA Cup banana skin, as they defeated fifth tier outfit Brackley Town 3-1 in the second round of the FA Cup.

It took just 13 minutes for the visitors to break the deadlock, as, having already spurned numerous chances through Julian Larsson, Shade smashed into the far bottom corner after cutting inside on his right from on the edge of the area.

The Saints, who came from behind to beat Notts County in the previous round, were in no mood to lie down though, and equalised through a well-worked deep corner routine that led to Michael Nottingham converting from Kyle Morrison’s knock down.

It was the Brewers who looked most likely to steal the victory as the game wore on, with Jack Armer and Kgaogelo Chauke seeing long-range efforts brilliantly saved.

That was a precursor of what was to come as Shade grabbed his second of the night in the 73rd minute, breaking onto a long ball over the top as Burton counter-attacked from a Brackley throw-in and tucking into the bottom corner.

There was still time for Shade to wrap up his treble too, curling into the bottom corner from near the penalty spot as Burton booked themselves a third round tie with another side from the National League, Boreham Wood.
