Newcastle target Anderson return
The club reportedly want to reduce the average age of the squad, and have their sights on 23-year-old Anderson, who came through Newcastle’s academy before leaving for Forest in 2024.
“Whether Newcastle act in that market or not is unclear. Talks between Ross Wilson, the club’s new director of football, and Eddie Howe have centred largely on the make-up of the current squad and the areas where he feels they are light rather than names.
“A reunion with £100m-rated midfielder Elliot Anderson remains the club’s recruitment ‘north star’ for 2026.
“Anderson is seen as a possible “franchise” player who could be part of the club’s ambitious 2030 plan if they could tempt him back.”
Man City and Liverpool target Semenyo
The Evening Standard reports that Liverpool and Manchester City look set to battle for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo in January.
The Ghana international has a £65 million release clause which is only valid for the first two weeks of the upcoming winter window, meaning any interested club will need to act quickly.
“It would give the Cherries adequate time to replace Semenyo before the winter window closed in the event that he did leave the club.
“Semenyo has now been urged to make a move by his Ghana manager Otto Addo, who believes it is time for him to step up ahead of next summer’s World Cup in North America, where Ghana have been placed in a group alongside England, Croatia and Panama.”
PL duo chase Bouaddi
Arsenal and Chelsea may have to wait until at least the summer to sign Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi after he signed a new deal with his current club.
Reports in France suggest the Premier League duo and Paris Saint-Germain could both make offers for the player next year.
“Earlier in the week, RMC Sport had reported that Bouaddi was a target for Arsenal and Chelsea, while Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked. The French outlet claimed Gunners transfer chief Andrea Berta had already met with the youngster’s representatives.
“The new deal might stave off a January exit, but there are suggestions it won’t stop clubs testing the water over a summer move. RMC Sport suggested the two London sides were readying bids in the region of £39m, though Lille president Olivier Letang was said to be holding out for more than that even before the renewal.”
Mainoo wants United exit
The Athletic reports that his desire for a temporary exit only comes from his love for United.
“Except he may not be around for much longer. The upcoming January transfer window will see Mainoo seek a loan move away from his boyhood club after a difficult start to 2025-26.
“Were it not for his lifelong love of United, he might be asking for a permanent move away from Old Trafford, rather than a temporary loan. No player is bigger than the club, but the departure of Mainoo — even on loan — would give reason for pause among the fanbase.”
