Mohamed Salah has dropped a bombshell interview in which he revealed his current frustrations at Liverpool – after being benched – hinting at a potential exit and saying he hasn’t got a relationship with manager Arne Slot.
Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy has claimed that Mohamed Salah should have kept his frustrations within the club, rather than voicing them publicly, following a bombshell interview from the forward over his situation at Anfield. The Egypt international was on the bench for a third game in a row for the Reds, leading to him venting his concerns in a jaw-dropping statement.
The 33-year-old suggested he’s being “thrown under the bus”, claimed he has no relationship with manager Arne Slot, and stated that next week’s clash with Brighton could even be the last for the club.
After that interview, Murphy chatted on BBC’s Match of the Day on the situation, as he said: “We know that’s an emotional response that doesn’t really stack up. Everyone has to keep fighting for their place and keep fighting for a certain level.

“I don’t think he’s on his own. A lot of other big-name players are getting stick and some of their fans are turning, they are getting judged.”
Murphy added: “It’s not true. You can be angry, you can be frustrated, you can be emotional.
“He’s done wonderful things for the football club.
“But you have to keep it in the four walls of the club. Knock on the manager’s door, go and speak to the CEO and whoever you need to. Go and see the owners. Do whatever you’ve got to do.
“Express your frustrations there… By doing what he’s done, he’s causing the manager and the team a problem and he’s making it all about him.
“You just can’t do it. Whether you agree with him being left out or not, you don’t deal with it like this.”
The bombshell interview from Salah has certainly caused waves, with the forward not holding back on what he thinks about his situation. There was clear frustration over the fact he’d been kept on the bench, again, the third time in a row for Salah, who also missed out on starting against West Ham and Sunderland.
“I couldn’t believe I was sitting on the bench for 90 minutes. That’s the third time,” Salah said when he was asked about the Leeds match. “It’s the first time in my career I think. I am very disappointed, I have done so much for this club over years, especially last season, It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus.
“That’s how I feel it. Someone wants me to get all the blame. The club promised me a lot in summer. Now, I’m on bench, so I can say they haven’t kept those promises.”
Salah suggested that the Brighton game could, in turn, be his last for the club, as he added: “I called my mum and dad and told them to come to the Brighton game.
“It doesn’t matter if I play or not. I’m going to enjoy it. I am just going to be at Anfield and say goodbye to the fans before the Africa Cup of Nations, because I don’t know what is going to happen when I am there.”
Links surrounding a switch to Saudi Arabia have persisted for a few seasons now, but that proposed transfer could be inching closer ahead of the January transfer window. “Is there interest from Saudi Arabia? I don’t want to answer that question because the club will take me in a different direction,” he said.
“I have done so much for this club. I love the fans so much and love the club, I don’t know what is next.”
