Trent Alexander-Arnold’s nightmare start to life at Real Madrid has continued, as another injury issue means the former Liverpool star is set for a spell out of action.
Former Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been supported by former teammates after his second injury blow of the season. The England international is reportedly set to be out for around two months with a quad injury.
He suffered the problem during the midweek 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. Real Madrid have since confirmed the blow.
In a statementthey said: “Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the rectus anterior quadriceps in his left leg. His progress will be monitored.”

Following confirmation of the injury, Alexander-Arnold took to social media on Friday. He wrote: “Absolutely gutted about this one.
“The timing of it hurts but I will work hard to come back stronger and better! See you in 2026 Madridistas.”
The former Liverpool man was supported by Reds players past and present. In the comments, Andy Robertson wrote: “Stay positive brother” with a red heart emoji. Jordan Henderson responded with a praying and red heart emoji.

Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool in the summer, with the club receiving a fee of around £10 million for him to complete the move before the end of his contract – allowing him to compete in the Club World Cup.
His time at the Bernabeu has been difficult so far, with plenty of uncertainty surrounding the defender, as well as the rest of the club around him.
A few injuries have already impacted Alexander-Arnold, with a few hamstring issues keeping him out of action before his return last month.
The former star made his return to Liverpool in the Champions League, where he was greeted with boos from the crowd at Anfield as he came on as a substitute.
While the stop-start nature of things have turned Alexander-Arnold’s move into a bit of a nightmare so far, there have been concerns away from the pitch surrounding the club itself.
Some of the Real Madrid squad appear unhappy with Xabi Alonso and his methods, with reports claiming that Vinicius Jr is among those who have a strained relationship with the new manager.
It remains to be seen how things will work out for Alexander-Arnold, who has struggled in his first few months of his six-year deal with Los Blancos.
However, the injury is another setback that also puts some doubts over whether the defender can get into contention for the England World Cup squad.
