The striker completed a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal from Liverpool in the summer, but could be on the move again
Former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez could be on the move in the January transfer window, with the player reportedly ‘offered’ to Turkish side Fenerbahce. The Uruguayan completed a move away from Anfield in the summer.
The transfer saw him join Saudi side Al-Hilal for a £66 million fee. The sale helped Liverpool to make room for the summer additions of Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak to their squad.
He has had a pretty successful time on the pitch, scoring five goals and providing two more assists in his 11 games for the club. However, it’s reported that he has failed to settle in the Middle East and is looking to secure a move away when the transfer window opens.

It’s now claimed by Turkish outlet Sporx that he has been offered to Fenerbahce as the side search for a new striker. It’s added that the club have already began a ‘cost analysis’ of the player.
It has been made clear that Fenerbahce will not be able to offer Nunez the salary that he currently earns with Al-Hilal. There is, however, an option to use proceeds from sales or getting Al-Hilal to pay a portion of the player’s wages if a loan deal can be agreed.
Nunez himself is reported to have already ‘gathered information’ on Fenerbahce as a club. He is said to have spoken to teammate Yusuf Akcicek, who moved to Al-Hilal from the Turkish club in the summer, and Uruguay teammate Diego Lugano.
Nunez struggled to make too much of an impact at Liverpool, with Arne Slot admitting back in January that the team were unable to play to his strengths. “Darwin is a striker we have to use in a certain way and we were not able yet to bring the best out of him this season,” he said.
“Against Accrington Stanley again you saw he has a lot of pace but, unfortunately for him, most teams sit back a lot against us.
“If you look back at the goals he scored for us, I remember the one against (Aston) Villa when he went around the goalkeeper on a fast break, that is his main strength – he has other qualities as well – but we are still working on getting him in the best possible positions against a low block. That involves the right timings, the right crosses, the right position to start from and making the right run.”
The talk over Nunez future comes just months after he left Anfield in a summer where the Reds revamped their attacking options. Ekitike impressed after making the move from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.
The Frenchman has scored six times in all competitions for Liverpool. It’s not been so easy for Isak, with the striker struggling to make an impact since completing a £125 move from Newcastle United.
The 26-year-old has scored one goal in his seven Premier League appearances for the club. His only other goal came in the Carabao Cup against Championship side Southampton.
