Former Liverpool, Man City and AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper David James has offered transfer advice to Antoine Semenyo
Antoine Semenyo looks set to have his pick of the clubs when the time comes to leave AFC Bournemouth as he continues to be linked with a big-money move in January. The Ghana international signed a new contract with the Cherries last summer, despite attracting interest from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, his new deal included a £65m release clause which can be activated in the new year once the transfer window re-opens – but only before a certain date, giving Bournemouth enough time to secure a replacement.
Should the forward stay put at the Vitality Stadium, his release clause would then reduce slightly next summer.

Liverpool are one of the sides who have been linked with a possible mid-season move for Semenyo, while The Times reported over the weekend that Man City are also considering triggering the Ghanaian’s release clause in January.
As speculation about Semenyo’s future continues, David James has offered the forward advice regarding a possible exit from the Vitality Stadium.
The former England international played for Liverpool, Man City and Bournemouth during his own playing days.
And boasting split loyalties as a result, he admitted that the best opportunity of playing time would ultimately guide his choice if he were in Semenyo’s shoes.
“If I were Semenyo, well, we’re not talking about bad teams here, are we?” he told AskGamblers. “I think the question would be, where is he going to get game time?
“It’s the Premier League with five substitutes, (so) there’s always going to be game time (but) is it going to be the game time that he wants, compared to what he is having at Bournemouth? Or is it just purely about where do I win trophies?

“I think Bournemouth have shown they’re not frightened to lose players. I think they’ve been excellent in that sense, just looking at this season and the players they lost.
“I think with Bournemouth, it will be a calculated decision. I think Bournemouth would have to have someone lined up (as a replacement), and it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve already got someone lined up or have in the pipeline to get lined up.”
Liverpool and Bournemouth completed two transfers between themselves last summer as the Reds signed Milos Kerkez in a £40m switch, and also sold Ben Doak to the Cherries in a deal worth up to £25m.
Meanwhile, Semenyo has been one of the star players in this season’s Premier League, with only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago bettering his total of nine goal contributions (six goals and three assists) from 12 appearances.
