Kostas Tsimikas joined AS Roma on a season-long loan switch from Liverpool at the end of August
Kostas Tsimikas has offered a cryptic hint about his Liverpool future after joining AS Roma on a season-long loan deal last summer. The Reds had looked to sell the Greece international after signing Milos Kerkez from AFC Bournemouth in a £40m deal.
The 29-year-old attracted interest from a number of clubs, with the Serie A outfit ultimately leading the chase ahead of the likes of Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. But after failing to agree a permanent deal, a loan exit was sanctioned instead at the end of August.
The Greece international’s switch to the eternal city is a straight loan with no option to buy. Consequently, Tsimikas is currently scheduled to return to Anfield at the end of the season.

He remains under contract with Liverpool until 2027. Meanwhile, Andy Robertson’s own deal is set to expire next summer, leaving the Reds with a decision to make regarding who will compete with Kerkez for a starting berth at left-back next season.
Robertson revealed last month that he is yet to open contract talks with Liverpool. And while the Scotland international would like to stay put at Anfield, he is well-aware that he could be seeing out his final season with the Reds.
Tsimikas has now spoken out about his own future with his parent club, with the Greek seemingly not ruling out the possibility of staying put at Anfield next season as he admitted he misses Liverpool.
“You never know (what will happen),” he told The Athletic. “The most important thing for me is to be healthy, to train hard, to play more games.
“Next year is a different story for me. I want to be successful, I want to win things. Only God knows what will happen in the next year.
“I miss the city (of Liverpool). I lived there for five years. I love everything in Liverpool. They have a special part of my heart.
“The people are very kind, some of the kindest I’ve ever met in football. They’d always try to support the team, in good, in bad, they would always do their best to try to help you.
“I want everything for this club, because from day one, I was fully committed there. I was the Greek Scouser and I always will be, I’ll keep it for my whole life.”

Tsimikas has made 10 appearances since joining Roma, starting five times and returning one assist.
But he has already fallen down the pecking order at the club, finding himself left as an unused substitute, starting only twice and being limited to just 146 minutes of action from Roma’s last 10 matches in all competitions.
The defender was again an unused substitute for Roma’s latest game as they lost 1-0 at home to Napoli on Sunday.
