Scottie Scheffler is still battling for his third Masters triumph, but that is not the only thing at stake for the world No.1 golf star

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is still in with a chance of winning the Masters – and if anybody hopes he will do so more than the two-time winner at Augusta himself, it will be his caddy.
Scheffler has struggled to play his best form at the iconic course, but his magnificent round of 65 has put him within four strokes of joint leaders Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young. A tournament victory would not only see him lift the major for this third time, it would also bank him a first prize of £3.35million.
That kitty would go a long way to cementing his place at the top of the golf rankings. However, he is not the only person who would financially benefit, as his long-term caddie Ted Scott would also bank a handsome fee.

For his assistance, Scott will receive a share of the prize money collected by Scheffler.
While the exact arrangement remains private, it’s typical for caddies to collect 10 per cent of the winning prize money, with smaller percentages for lower placings in the standings, while some also receive a base salary.
Scheffler has, though, previously confessed he is unaware of the arrangement. “It’s been a fun year, I don’t really think about the money that much,” Scheffler said on the Pardon My Take podcast in 2024.

“I think that kind of becomes a big deal with the FedEx and everything but, at the end of the day, I’m just playing golf. And the money is just a gift on top of that. We have a girl that helps us pay bills basically because I’m a child and can’t keep track of all that stuff!
“She quickly took over that job and texts me at the end of each week, saying; ‘Hey, this is how much we’re paying Ted’? I’m like; ‘That’s great.'”
That employee will become even busier if he is able to claw back the four stroke deficit between him and McIlroy and Young. Scheffler began with a round of 70 and tumbled down the leader-board with a disappointing 74 in round two.
However, he was back to his scintillating best at Augusta with his round of 65, the joint best round this week alongside McIlroy and Young. His round four will begin at 6.52pm, where he will be paired with Chinese star Li Haotong.
Speaking to the media after his incredible round, Scheffler said: “Yeah, I hit it really nice today. I felt like I was very sharp with the irons. Got it up there. Gave myself a lot of opportunities.
“I felt like I took advantage of those on the front nine, and then back nine, I did a lot of good things. Was really, really close to seeing a lot go in.
“Trying to think. It’s, like, hit two good shots into 10, a really nice putt, just breaks a little bit more. Birdied 11. Good things on 12. Hit the fairway on 13. Get a mud ball. Didn’t hit what I felt like was a good bunker shot, and 14 was another good putt, and 15, like, ball just barely goes further.
“Get a little gust downwind, and fortunately, today it didn’t go all the way into the hazard, but still left me with a pretty difficult pitch. Then 16 did some good things. 17, you know, three really good shots. Still didn’t make birdie.
“Overall could have been – I mean, I guess to answer your question, it wasn’t maybe that bad, but it definitely could have been lower.
“But like I said, I did what I needed to do. Went out and executed to give myself some opportunities, and more of that tomorrow, and I think I’ll be in a good spot.”
