Morale has taken a hit at Liverpool after a run of disappointing Premier League defeats

Liverpool supporters have been given a glimmer of hope amidst a challenging spell. The Reds were recently held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at Anfield, marking their fourth consecutive league stalemate.
Despite Arne Slot’s team maintaining a 12-match unbeaten run across all competitions, many performances have left much to be desired, leading to widespread disappointment.
The dissatisfaction from the Anfield crowd was palpable at the final whistle against the Clarets, as boos echoed around the stadium following another missed chance to solidify their place in the Champions League spots.

It’s been a grim season for Tottenham who currently languish in 14th place in the table, with Thomas Frank’s role as head coach under serious scrutiny. With only two league victories since November, Spurs have struggled to capitalise on their Europa League title-winning campaign, which could have implications when trying to retain their top players.
Since his £43million switch from Wolfsburg in 2023, Micky van de Ven has become one of the Premier League’s standout defenders. Tottenham’s recent difficulties, combined with Liverpool’s need for defensive reinforcements, have sparked speculation that the reigning champions are readying a £78million bid for the Netherlands international.
Particularly after losing out on Marc Guehi, who secured his switch to Manchester City on Monday, a pursuit of Van De Ven has been backed by former Chelsea and Spurs player Jason Cundy. Speaking on talkSPORT, he argued the Dutchman would be an ideal acquisition for the Reds, saying: “Here’s the thing, if I’m Liverpool I’m going after Van de Ven.
“That’s what I would do, I would absolutely go all out. They lost out on Guehi, Van de Ven is the next big thing at centre-half. He’s perfect for Liverpool if they want to play a high line. I’m going straight after him.”
Reds star confirms extension talks
Arguably Liverpool’s standout performer this season, Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed that discussions are ongoing to prolong the midfielder’s time at Anfield. However, the Hungary skipper was careful to emphasise that a new agreement with the Reds is far from certain.
A bright spot in what has been a deeply frustrating title defence, Szoboszlai has earned widespread acclaim for his reliable displays across multiple positions whilst emerging as a leader at club level.
The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year contract following his £60million transfer to Anfield in 2023, with the club keen to acknowledge his progress since arriving. When questioned about whether discussions have begun regarding a fresh deal, he replied: “Of course, but there are always talks.
“You guys in the media make a lot for the people (public) and you keep on going because that’s your job but there has been talks but for sure not any decision has been made. There is always progress but no decision has been made and I’ll just keep on going every week, every training, giving my best for the team, for the fans.
“Let’s see what is going to happen in the future. I am happy here but you know how football works and that is something everybody has to take into account.”
