Liverpool transfer latest: Reds want former Real Madrid star as Joel Ordonez plan set

Liverpool continue to be linked with multiple transfer targets including Como’s ex-Real Madrid defender Jacobo Ramon and Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing several potential new recruits as the January transfer window is leading to a flurry of rumours and speculation. The Reds have just three weeks to finalise any deals they wish to secure before the deadline on 2 February.

Currently in fourth place in the Premier League, Arne Slot’s team will take a brief hiatus from league action this week as they face Barnsley at Anfield in the third round of the FA Cup on Monday night.

Liverpool have already confirmed one new signing this month, announcing last week the arrival of Mor Talla Ndiaye. The 18-year-old is expected to link up with the club’s Under-21 side following his move to Merseyside.

With the January transfer window now open, Liverpool have the opportunity to strengthen their squad with additional signings if they choose to do so.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been strongly linked with a switch to Anfield since the summer, and it remains uncertain whether Liverpool will renew their interest before the deadline.

Here, the ECHO examines some of the latest Liverpool transfer gossip and news that has been circulating over the past 24 hours.

Liverpool ‘monitor’ Serie A defender

Liverpool are reportedly among a number of clubs showing interest in securing the signature of Jacobo Ramon, a defender for Serie A team Como.

Caught Offside has reported that Liverpool, along with Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Brighton, are all keen on signing Ramon.

The report suggests that Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Ramon with an eye towards a potential transfer, although it’s unclear whether this would happen this month or in the summer. Ramon only joined Como last summer from Real Madrid and has already made a positive impression at the Italian club.

Joel Ordonez timeline emerges

Liverpool are reportedly planning to bide their time before making a move to sign Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez.

According to Football Insider, the Reds will not table an offer to sign Ordonez during this month’s transfer window, opting instead to wait until the summer.

Ever since summer recruit Giovanni Leoni suffered a season-ending knee injury on his debut in September, the Reds have been strongly linked with signing a centre-back this month. Liverpool were dealt another injury setback this weekend when it was revealed that Conor Bradley will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury he sustained in the draw with Arsenal on Thursday night.
