Six minutes, three goals: How Real Madrid v Barcelona Spanish Supercopa Clasico erupted before half-time with Vinicius strike lighting touch paper

Raphinha’s angled drive gave Barca a deserved lead in the 36th minute but it proved to be just the taster before an extraordinary feast of goals during stoppage-time.

An outrageous solo effort from Vinicius Junior ended the Brazilian superstar’s goal drought to draw Los Blancos level, but Barca needed little more than two minutes to restore their advantage through a deft Robert Lewandowski finish.

Just as things appeared to be winding down, another goal went in as Gonzalo Garcia struck to conclude a breathless six minutes of action.

TNT Sports commentator Adam Summerton and co-commentator Glenn Hoddle were left in disbelief as events unfolded at the Alinma Bank Stadium.

46:07: ‘Fabulous’ Vinicius ends goal drought

Long considered one of Real Madrid’s X-factor players, Vinicius had lost his touch in front of goal ahead of the Supercopa de Espana in Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian was on a 16-game goal drought heading into El Clasico, but he received the backing of head coach Xabi Alonso and repaid his faith in style.

Driving down the left wing, he tangled Jules Kounde in knots, nutmegging the defender before skipping past another and finding the far corner in a show of brilliance.

“A fabulous individual goal from Vinicius Junior levels the score right at the end of this first half. Sheer quality from the Brazilian, who ends his long wait for a goal – and what a goal it was,” Summerton said.

“Fantastic, this game just keeps giving. An amazing game,” Hoddle said.

“My word. Barcelona should be two or three up the way they’ve played but this Real Madrid side have this capability.”

48:25: Lewandowski’s ‘template’ finish

The celebrations had barely died down before Barcelona were in front again.

They shifted the ball forward quickly and Pedri spotted the well-timed run of Lewandowski, who stayed onside before flicking a cool finish into the far corner in trademark style.

“What a finish! Brilliant from Barcelona. Robert Lewandowski has made a career out of finishes like that. Exquisite,” Summerton commented.

Hoddle added: “What a goal and what a response after Vinicius’ individual goal. Beautiful finish. That is the template. If you said, ‘Visualise a goal Lewandowski would score’, that would be it. Time and time again, we’ve seen that sort of finish. It’s his template.”

50:41: ‘Can you believe what we’re seeing?’

The clock kept ticking as extra stoppages were added on after a frantic few minutes, leaving Real Madrid with one more chance from a corner.

Dean Huijsen’s towering header was somehow deflected onto the post by a leaping Raphinha but Garcia was on hand to somehow knock in the rebound – via the crossbar – as he was falling over.

“It’s remarkable! Can you believe what we’re seeing here? What a game! And we’ve still got a second half to go,” Summerton said.

A stunned Hoddle responded: “I thought it was a goal three times. It hits the post, the bar, you think it’s in, and then it hits the underside of the bar. He’s falling backwards, it’s a brilliant finish from Garcia, it really is.”

Raphinha struck again in the second half as Barcelona retained the Supercopa trophy in a game that no one will forget in a hurry.
