An Arsenal fan from Uganda has announced that he is taking legal action against the club for ‘emotional distress’ among other offenses, following Saturday’s ‘unacceptable’ 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.
The supporter, identified as Eric Kyama, shared a document on X (formerly Twitter), in which he declared his intention to file a lawsuit against Arsenal.

In a ‘Notice of Intent to Sue’ dated April 11, Kyama accused the Premier League leaders of ‘gross professional negligence‘ and ‘lack of competitive integrity,’ which he claimed is a ‘fundamental breach of the implied contract between the club and its global fanbase’.
Kyama criticized the players for professional negligence, alleging that they displayed ‘a complete lack of industry’ and insisting that their failure to show ‘urgency’ on the pitch amounts to ‘a dereliction of professional duty’.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was also not spared, with Kyama accusing the manager of ‘lacking the tactical prowess’ required to lead the club and describing the team under the Spaniard as ‘disjointed’ and ’directionless’.
The fan claimed Arsenal’s recent underwhelming performances have caused emotional and financial distress, arguing that fans ‘invest significant time, emotion, and financial resources’ into supporting the club.
Kyama also alleged ‘misrepresentation of brand values,’ saying that the club’s motto ‘Victory Through Harmony’ was contradicted by their lack of fighting spirit against Bournemouth.
“Unless the club provides a formal explanation and a clear plan for immediate restitution of competitive standards, I shall proceed with further legal consultations to seek damages for psychological toll and the loss of faith in the sporting conduct provided. Expect further communication from my legal representatives,” the letter concluded.
The defeat to Bournemouth marked Arsenal’s fourth league defeat of the campaign and the third in their last four matches across all competitions. After the game against the Cherries, Mikel Arteta’s men were reportedly booed off the pitch, as the north London club now sit six points ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

Mikel Arteta issued an apology to Arsenal fans after his team were stunned by Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium. When asked what his message to the club’s supporters was, Arteta said:
“Apologise, take it on the chin and that’s it. What I’m trying to do is give our best to the club, give the best possibility to our players, and I know, if the atmosphere, the fans, the support, the energy in the stadium is the best in the world, we have a much better chance. I don’t think that there’s any other possibility to perform better than when you have that kind of support. But then we have to respond, and we had moments in the first half where we did it, and there were other moments that we weren’t at our level. So, then we have to apologise to them and improve, for sure.”
A month ago, the Gunners were tipped for an unprecedented quadruple. But they are now left with two trophies following a Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City and their exit from the FA Cup after losing to Championship side Southampton.
