HELLO AND WELCOME
It’s an avian AFCON showdown at Fez Stadium as the Nigerian Super Eagles look to face Tunisia, the Eagles of Carthage.
Nigeria took a 2-1 win against Tanzania, while Tunisia scored 3-1 against Uganda for both teams to take an early advantage in Group C. The leaders now play each other tonight to who will claim the top of the table.
Eyes were on Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen in Nigeria’s lineup ahead of the first matchday, but it would be Ademola Lookman who impressed with the winner on Tuesday. They look sharp on the attacking end, but it seemed they have a couple of defensive issues that could plague them if not ironed out.
Tunisia will look to shock Nigeria again, a la their Round of 16 victory that knocked the Super Eagles out of the 2021 tournament. They have qualified for the 2026 World Cup, and a good result at AFCON will put wind in their sails for the competition in North America. Elias Achouri scored a brace on Tuesday, a feat Sami Trabelsi will surely hope to see repeated today.
