Mohamed Salah was left out the Liverpool squad to face Inter Milan on Tuesday – a game the Reds ended up winning 1-0 due to Dominik Szoboszlai’s late winner
Mohamed Salah does NOT want to leave Liverpool and is hoping to remain at Anfield, despite criticising the club and head coach Arne Slot in an explosive post-match interview.
Following Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Leeds United on Saturday, Salah said he feels he has been “thrown under the bus” after being dropped to the bench for their past three matches, which led to him being left out of the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Inter Milan.
In response to Salah’s comments, Jamie Carragher provided a passionate verdict on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, with the ex-Liverpool defender branding him as a “disgrace” and said it was “choreographed by him and his agent to cause maximum damage”.

Despite the noise surrounding the Reds, they managed to produce an impressive performance to beat Inter 1-0 at San Siro. Dominik Szoboszlai was the match-winner for Slot’s side as he scored a second half penalty to secure just a second win in seven games.
Speaking after Liverpool’s win at Inter, ex-Reds forward Daniel Sturridge was asked about the situation involving Salah and provided an insightful reaction. Indeed, Sturridge admitted he has spoken to the Egyptian, who revealed he wants to STAY on Merseyside.
“He is going to be watching at home wishing he was here,” Sturridge told Amazon Prime Video. “Wishing he could have helped the team.
“In the moment there is a level of reflection, because it is so raw now and it is so fresh it is hard to reflect on the situation. We are in it. We have all been through ups and downs.
“I think for Mo right now, I think he wants to help the team get back to where they have been witch was at the top. I think watching what’s happened you wan to be part of it. You’re at home, you’re sat there.
“This goes for players who are injured and players who are in this situation the last thing you want to do is not be part of it. I think that is of course going to be hurting him because he knows.
“He loves playing for this club, I know this. Mo has told me ‘I love this football club. I don’t want to leave this club. This is where I want to be’. He wants to be a Liverpool player but he wants to play.
“I think they will have a conversation. I can’t speak for Mo and what he is going to do, I don’t know how he is going to feel but I think there needs to be another conversation between the manager and Mohamed Salah.”
Sturridge added that Salah would be more than welcome to have a conversation with Slot. “I assume, knowing Mo, he’d be happy to have that conversation and hopefully the situation gets resolved in a positive way,” he continued.
It’s unknown, at this stage, whether Salah will be in the Liverpool squad to face Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday. However, he will jet off to the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt after the Reds’ clash with the Seagulls.
