Dejan Lovren has shown his support for former colleague Mohamed Salah following his explosive interview after being dropped by Arne Slot once again for the Premier League draw at Leeds United
Former Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren has been involved in an outburst with a fan on social media in defence of Mohamed Salah – telling the fan to ‘stay in his territory’ and claiming he has ‘no clue’ about what is going on.
The exchange comes after Salah’s explosive mixed-zone interview following the 3-3 draw against Leeds United, where he was an unused substitute last Saturday. It was the third game the forward was dropped to the bench by Arne Slot.
“I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame,” Salah said. “I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.

“It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. This club, I will always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much and I always will. It (the situation) is not acceptable to me, to be fair. I don’t get it.”
At first, Salah’s close pal Lovren took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a short message of support, tagging the Liverpool superstar and adding a heart emoji.
On Tuesday, Salah responded by posting a picture of himself in the gym at Liverpool’s training ground, after being left out of the squad for their Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan.
This time, Lovren was spotted in the comments section as he wrote: “The only way to deal with injustice is to fight with all our strength,” before he was seen replying to one comment which read: “You have no clue what’s going on behind closed doors.
“Stay in your territory with your keyboard and support the wrong side.”
Slot has addressed the situation, claiming that his decision was a ‘tactical’ call.
“I think we have struggled this season but already in the last part of last season with game plans of the opponent,” Slot said.
“I’ve tried to adapt, but I think after it was PSV and Forest where we again looked very vulnerable.
“I decided to do something else and that’s what happened that I did not play Salah against West Ham, against Sunderland and Leeds.
“Everybody can have his opinion and use his own words about what he thinks about the situation, but it’s also up to us to react to them if a player uses words, we cannot accept.”
