Man City want Elliot Anderson
Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United could all battle it out for Elliot Anderson next summer.
The midfielder could be available for around £100 million, and the 23-year-old is attracting attention from the Premier League’s richest teams.
“The Nottingham Forest star has earned multiple admirers since arriving at the City Ground little over a year ago and developed into a formidable player, even breaking into the England side. And it seems that the Premier League’s elite are no longer willing to watch on from the sidelines as he continues to impress on a weekly basis in the Premier League.
“Manchester City are the latest team to have scouted the 23-year-old in recent weeks, with Mirror Football revealing last month that they were keen on him. The player’s versatility in the centre of the field is said to be appealing to City, who are said to prefer Anderson to Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.
“City will face competition from Liverpool and Manchester United and the club are aware of their rivals’ interest.”
Liverpool receive Enrique boost
The Evening Standard report that Luis Enrique is open to joining Liverpool as manager.
With Arne Slot’s position in doubt at Anfield, the Premier League champions are being linked with potential replacements.
“Slot is facing significant pressure just six months after winning the Premier League title, having lost seven of their last eight top-flight games.
“It was claimed earlier this month that Julian Nagelsmann was the man most wanted at Anfield should Slot be sacked, but the coach’s commitments to Germany ahead of next summer’s World Cup makes a move a likely non-starter.
“That has prompted links with Luis Enrique, whose Paris Saint-Germain team knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League last season en route to winning the competition for the first time.”
Wharton wants European football to join Utd
Adam Wharton will only consider a move to Manchester United from Crystal Palace on one condition.
The midfielder wants United to be in Europe next season if he is to leave the London club, according to the Express.
“However, despite his preference for a return to the north-west of England, he will not leave Palace to join a team that cannot provide him with European football. Wharton feels prepared to make the leap to a larger club, which includes regularly performing on the grandest stage.
“United are absent from Europe this season, following a disastrous campaign previously. They are set to face Palace on Sunday lunchtime after a series of inconsistent results.
“The Red Devils have also set their sights on players like Elliot Anderson and Conor Gallagher, but Wharton remains their top choice.”
United linked with Valverde
Reports in Spain suggest that Manchester United could move for unsettled Real Madrid star Federico Valverde.
The Uruguayan international is thought to be unhappy at playing out of position under Xabi Alonso.
“According to a Spanish report, via TEAMtalk, the Portuguese manager is “planning to submit” a £105m offer for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde. The 27-year-old has racked up 341 appearances for Los Blancos during his eight-year stint at the club, collecting 14 major trophies along the way.
“Nevertheless, reports have been rife regarding his discontent at Madrid under Xabi Alonso, who has deployed the Uruguayan at right-back since October due to injuries to Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold.”
