Man Utd are weighing up a summer offer for Benfica left-back Samuel Dahl, according to reports in the Portuguese media.
Record claim that scouts from the Red Devils have been to watch the Swedish international “more than a dozen” times over the course of this campaign.
They have sent back “positive” feedback to the club, and there is now a strong chance that an official approach will be made for Dahl this summer.
The 23-year-old has made 46 appearances in all competitions for Benfica this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
Wilcox has made signing a new left-back a top priority
The Red Devils have pinpointed three positions to reinforce during the next transfer window. Along with a central midfielder and a left winger, Director of Football Jason Wilcox and Head of Recruitment Christopher Vivell are hoping to strengthen the left-hand side of the defence.
That is not really a surprise, considering that the only alternative to Luke Shaw in the first team squad, Tyrell Malacia, will be leaving Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of June.

Dahl is not the only option Man Utd are looking at
Sky Sports reported last week that United have also added Newcastle’s Lewis Hall and Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly to their shortlist.
However, neither would be a cheap addition, and considering there are other areas to strengthen, Dahl may end up as the most cost-effective solution.
Benfica only signed the Swede on a permanent basis from Roma for €9m last year, so he won’t be available for a low fee, but it is very unlikely that United would have to pay as much as they would for either Hall or Lewis-Skelly.
