Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have made a conscious effort to sign talented youngsters in recent years and Monga has emerged as their latest target amid his eye-catching ascent to first-team football at the King Power Stadium.

The winger became the second-youngest player in Premier League history when he made his debut in the top flight against Newcastle United last season, aged 15 years and 271 days old, and he was heavily linked with a number of top clubs following Leicester’s relegation.

However, Monga opted to snub interest from the English top flight in favour of remaining at Leicester and he has made 28 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring once.

He has appeared as a substitute in each of their past three Championship fixtures, after initially struggling for game time under new boss Gary Rowett, but his future remains in serious doubt as Leicester stare down the barrel of relegation down to League One.

Manchester City are known admirers of the 16-year-old, while TEAMtalk report that Arsenal and Man Utd are also ready to lodge “formal approaches” for the teenager when the summer transfer window opens.

Jeremy Monga transfer interest confirmed

Monga cannot sign a professional contract at Leicester until he turns 17 years old in July and this could open the door for a high-profile summer switch amid significant interest in his signature.

It’s reported that Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in signing the winger, while European giants Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Real Madrid are eager to land him too.

However, Leicester are optimistic of tying him down to a long-term professional contract this summer and believe that offering Monga regular first-team football will convince him to stay.
