A Manchester City fan has gone viral for his celebration as he mocked Arsenal during his side’s 3-0 win over Chelsea. The Cityzens claimed an impressive win at Stamford Bridge to close the gap to the league leaders to six points ahead of a crunch clash next weekend.

The cameras panned to the stands at Stamford Bridge after Jeremy Doku fired City’s third past Robert Sanchez, and a fan instantly became an internet sensation. Wearing a jacket to match the Cityzens’ kit for the game, he produced a bottle carrying the Arsenal crest and pretended to drink from it.

The action of the fan constituted a new level of mockery of the Gunners, whose recent form has led to talk of their season spiralling out of control. They have lost three of their last four games across all competitions, ending talks of an unprecedented quadruple from Mikel Arteta’s side this season.

The Gunners have been called out for being ‘bottlejobs’ over the years, and their recent slump has given renewed life to the taunts. Their defeat against Bournemouth saw them miss out on an opportunity to momentarily go 12 points clear of the Cityzens in the league. Manchester City’s win over Chelsea means they cannot afford to drop points at the Etihad next weekend, with their margin for error significantly reduced.

Arsenal have crashed out of both domestic cup competitions in the last month, and were far from comfortable in their UEFA Champions League win over Sporting Club. They remain in the hunt for the Premier League and Champions League titles as they look to win a first major honour since 2020.

Manchester City pile pressure on Arsenal with win over Chelsea

Manchester City piled pressure on league leaders Arsenal with a convincing 3-0 win over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. The Cityzens moved to within six points of their rivals as they aim to reclaim the Premier League title this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side looked to take advantage of the Gunners’ slip-up, and opened the scoring through Nico O’Reilly in the 51st minute. Six minutes later, they doubled their advantage as Marc Guehi fired home from inside the box.

Jeremy Doku capitalized on a rare Moises Caicedo error to put the Cityzens 3-0 up in the 68th minute, sealing the win. Manchester City can move to within three points of the Gunners with a win when both sides face off in the league next weekend. They have a game in hand against Crystal Palace on the horizon, potentially setting up a grandstand finish to the season.
