Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen couldn’t help but celebrate as Chelsea handed Manchester City a huge boost in the title race with Arsenal. Pep Guardiola’s men ran out 3-0 winners at Stamford Bridge, thanks to second half goals from Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guehi and Jeremy Doku.
Despite being an ardent Chelsea supporter and the defeat making sure that the Blues are four points adrift of Champions League qualification, Pietersen opted not to care.

The Englishman expressed his delight with his post on X after the game, urging Guardiola to ‘chase’ Arsenal down in the title race. He wrote:
“Should I say it out aloud – I’m actually quite happy Man City beat us today! Chase them down, Pep!!!”
Arsenal fan Piers Morgan quickly fired back at Pietersen, calling the ex-cricketer out for his comment. Morgan referred to the Blues’ fans as ‘pitiful surrender-monkeys’.
He responded on X:
“Chelsea fans personified – pitiful surrender-monkeys.”
Morgan also urged his team to respond to the mockery dished out by a Manchester City fan, who went viral for his bottle jibe at the Gunners during the game at Stamford Bridge.
He stated (in another post on X):
“You going to take this mockery, Arsenal ? Or are you going to stand up, show some bottle, and fight for this Title like it means more than life or death?”
Manchester City host Arsenal at the Etihad in a blockbuster clash next Sunday. The Citizens have a game in hand over Mikel Arteta’s men and could win the Premier League title on goal difference, if they win all their remaining fixtures.
Ex-Chelsea star Marc Guehi reacts after scoring for Man City to pile pressure on Arsenal
Chelsea academy graduate Marc Guehi got on the scoresheet for Manchester City in the visitors’ 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge. The centre-back doubled City’s advantage in the 57th minute and did not hold himself back from celebrating against his former club.
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t One Football) after the game, Guehi focused on the mission ahead as City aim to catch the Gunners in the title race. The 25-year-old stated that they must keep their foot on the ground and not lose focus now.
Guehi commented:
“We just want to improve, we just want to get better. Keep our feet on the ground, recover, focus on the next one. Thanks to God today for helping us.”
This was the first time Guehi scored in the Premier League since joining Manchester City in January. However, his first ever goal for City came in the Carabao Cup against Salford back in February.
