Arsenal hit another speed bump on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat to 11th place Bournemouth in the Premier League.
As of this writing, the Gunners hold a 9 point led over Manchester City, however, Pep’s team is currently playing Chelsea this morning at Stamford Bridge. A City win would close that gap to 6 points, while still having a game in hand over Arsenal.
Arsenal has won just once in the last four matches. That win came in the closing seconds of the game. The Gunners have been outscored 6-2 in those four matches, with one of goal coming from open play, and the other one from the penalty spot.
The writing is on the wall for Mikel Arteta and his squad. There is an old American saying that goes like this: “Either sh@t or get off the pot.” That’s where we are.
At this point of the season everything should be clicking on all eight cylinders, but instead, Arsenal is struggling like an 1985 Chevy Impala on four bad tires. Instead, the team looks tense, afraid and lacking the aggressiveness needed to win titles.
Sure, the squad needs Saka, Odegaard and Timber. Without question. However, with the depth Arteta has available, the type of play we have witnessed recently is honestly below par.
Ben White has struggled to keep an eye wingers coming in behind him. Martin Zubimendi looks tired and Myles Lewis-Skelly has lost the glimmer he showed last season.
Yet, there are still two big trophies to fight for, but the concern is this…are the boys up for the fight, or are we in for another miserable month of May?
