Man City manager Pep Guardiola believes his club will need to secure all 24 remaining points to win the Premier League title.

Speaking before Arsenal lost at home to Bournemouth, Guardiola said his team cannot afford any more slip-ups:

“The situation that we are in in the Premier League, we need to win all of them, otherwise it will not give us a chance to try until the end.

“We need to do a lot of points. We were not consistent enough, and during the season, we dropped points we should have taken. That’s why we are in a position that now we cannot do differently.”

How does Arsenal’s defeat affect things?

The Gunners’ shock loss on Saturday afternoon doesn’t really impact City in terms of what they need to do.

Prior to the Chelsea fixturethey are nine points adrift of the Gunners with two games in hand, while they will also face Mikel Arteta’s side at the Etihad Stadium next weekend.

It means that Guardiola’s men can win the title if they secure victories in all of their remaining matches. Of course, any further setbacks would complicate matters.

What are the odds of Man City winning the league?

Following Arsenal’s loss, and prior to City’s fixture on Sunday, the bookmakers have shortened the odds of Guardiola’s team finishing top of the table.

Some betting firms have priced them at 2/1 or even 7/4. The Gunners, meanwhile, are still odds-on, which is very much down to the fact that they already have the points on the board.

Having games in hand is all well and good, but City have to make sure they capitalise, starting with the clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.
