Arsenal supporters have erupted across social media as pressure intensifies in the Premier League title race, with many calling for Mikel Arteta to be sacked if Arsenal fail to hold off Manchester City after leading the standings earlier in the campaign.
The mood among sections of the fanbase has turned sharply, with online platforms dominated by frustration and a sense of déjà vu following previous late-season collapses. Within hours of the weekend’s results, hashtags such as #ArtetaOut and #BottlingFC began trending among Arsenal supporters.
One furious fan posted on X: “If we bottle this title again, Arteta has to go. Simple as that. You can’t blow leads every single season and call it progress.” Another wrote: “City were behind us for months. If they win it again, it shows we’re mentally nowhere near champions.”
Dozens of viral posts echoed the same sentiment. One supporter fumed: “I’m done with the excuses. Arteta has spent hundreds of millions. If we choke another run-in, he should be sacked the next morning.” Another added: “Being this far ahead and still letting City catch us is embarrassing. Same script every year.”
Some ARSENAL fans expressed exhaustion at repeatedly watching their club fall short. “I love Arsenal, but I can’t keep watching us bottle title chances,” a supporter wrote. “Every time it matters most, we crumble. How many more times?” Another post, liked over 15,000 times, read: “This team is elite until April, then collapses. If we don’t finish the job this season, it’s a failure of leadership.”
Criticism extended beyond the manager to the squad’s mentality. One fan wrote: “Champions don’t fold under pressure. We play beautiful football but melt the second City turn up the heat.” Another argued: “A decade of being nearly-men. If we want to be taken seriously, we can’t keep bottling it when it counts.”
Some ARSENAL supporters went further, demanding sweeping changes if the title slips away. “If we don’t win it this year, Arteta, the coaching staff and half this squad need reviewing,” one fan posted. “Fed up with failure being dressed up as progress.”
A minority of fans attempted to defend Arteta, insisting the season is not over and urging patience. But their voices were overwhelmed by anger from supporters who believe anything less than finishing above Manchester City would be unacceptable.
With the title race entering its decisive final stretch, the pressure surrounding Arsenal — and Arteta — is at its highest point yet, amplified by a restless fanbase unwilling to endure another late-season disappointment.
