Mikel Arteta’s worrying gesture to Arsenal fans in moment missed by TNT cameras

Mikel Arteta completely turned on Arsenal fans during a worrying moment of the 2-1 loss to Bournemouth.

On Saturday afternoon, Arsenal hosted Bournemouth at the Emirates for a Premier League match that could prove to be a defining moment in their season.

Having lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City and been knocked out of the FA Cup in a shock loss to Southampton in recent weeks, all eyes are on the Premier League and the Champions League to finally deliver Arsenal a trophy this season.

Heading into the match, the Gunners were nine points ahead of second-placed City atop the Premier League table, with Pep Guardiola’s side maintaining a game in hand.

But Arsenal failed to perform during the match, failing behind to a goal from Bournemouth youngster Eli Junior Kroupi before fellow young talent Alex Scott re-established the lead following Viktor Gyokeres’ penalty equaliser, winning the match for the visitors.

The result will no doubt be massively concerning for Arsenal fans, but perhaps even more worrying is how Arteta reacted to home fans expressing their anger at the performance during the match.

According to Telegraph reporter Sam Deanthe Arsenal manager turned to the home fans sitting behind the dugout during the first half to tell them to calm down and stop moaning at the team.

The fans were reportedly expressing their frustrations about the team’s inability to play forward more quickly.

What does Arsenal’s loss mean for the Premier League title race?

Manchester City travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in their upcoming match on Sunday, with a win able to take them to just six points behind the Gunners with a game still in hand.

Given City’s form in recent weeks, this will no doubt cause serious concern amongst Arsenal fans as Pep Guardiola has demonstrated on several occasions how he can turn up the pressure in the final weeks of the season.

And with a clash between the two Premier League title favourites at the Etihad to come next week, we could be looking at a very different title race in just over a week.
