Arsenal are doing well on the pitch this season, but they are facing money problems off the field. After spending a lot of money last summer, the club may need to sell players to follow financial rules. Many fans and experts say Arsenal should sell one player quickly and it is Leandro Trossard who is being called their “new Raheem Sterling”.
Why Leandro Trossard is in Spotlight?
The Belgian forward, Leandro Trossard, joined Arsenal from Brighton for around £26 million in 2023. At first, he played some good games and scored important goals. But in recent months, his form has dropped sharply which became a point of major concern, especially, during these unsettling times.
The fans and writers now compare him to Raheem Sterling’s later years. Like Sterling at Chelsea, Trossard looks skilled but often fails to make a big impact. He has shown low quality of his abilities at times but has failed to be consistent, fast & effective. A lot of fans think that recently he has turned into a player with no use to the team for his lack of help in bigger games.
Arsenal spent heavily in the last transfer window and to balance their books and obey Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), they must sell at least one first team player this summer. The reports say the club is looking at several names, including captain Martin Odegaard.

Why Arsenal Need to Sell Players?

Most fans do not want to lose him which is why many say Arsenal should sell Trossard before even thinking about Odegaard. Trossard has less value to the team right now and could still bring in decent money.
Trossard is 31 years old whose market value is falling because of recent poor performances. If Arsenal wait too long, they may get very little money for him. Selling him would bring in funds to help buy a better, younger winger or forward. It would also free up space in the squad for hungrier players who can fight for every minute.
Trossard has talent, but he does not always press hard or track back like Arteta wants in his style of football. In a team that fights for the title, every player must give maximum effort. Many experts believe he has become a “new Raheem Sterling”, who was once a useful player who is now drifting and not worth keeping.
Arsenal should look for clubs interested in Trossard this summer as teams in the Premier League or abroad may pay £15-20 million for him. Even if it is not a huge profit, it is better than keeping a player who is not fully committed or performing at the required level.

The Gunners are in a strong position to challenge for the title, but financial rules are forcing tough choices. Selling Leandro Trossard makes much more sense than risking Martin Odegaard.
