Arsenal are one of the clubs who have been linked with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, who is considering his future with the Bundesliga side.
Whilst the Ivory Coast international is mulling over agreeing to a new contract with the German club, if he decides to move on Arsenal are considered to have the edge over Liverpool in the race for his signature.
That is because Champions League football is a priority for Diomande, and whilst Arsenal are guaranteed to be in it next season, Liverpool’s hopes of participating in it again remain in the balance.
Although they are currently fifth – which would be good enough – they are in a race for that spot along with Chelsea, and even their Merseyside rivals Everton could yet overtake them.
Still just 19, Diomande will not come cheap because his reputation and value are rising all the time. Leipzig are confident they can command a fee of upwards of £85 million for him.
