BREAKING: Grand National 2026 runners: Final field confirmed as 34 horses set to line up at Aintree

The JP McManus-owned I Am Maximus, the winner of the race in 2024, heads both the field and the betting for the £1 million race at Aintree on Saturday

The field for the 2026 Randox Grand National at Aintree has been finalised. A full line-up of 34 horses, the maximum field size allowed, has been completed for the £1 million world-famous race which will be held on Saturday and broadcast live by ITV.

The race is headed by the JP McManus-owned I Am Maximus, the Willie Mullins-trained winner of the race in 2024 who finished second 12 months ago.

He faces a rematch with stablemate Nick Rockett who led home a famous Mullins 1-2-3, under the trainer’s son Patick Mullins, and Grangeclare West filled third spot. Mullins will join Red Rum’s trainer Ginger McCain and Fred Rimell as the most successful trainers in the race’s history if he can clinch a fourth Grand National.

Paul Townend is set to stay loyal to I Am Maximus with amateur Patrick Mullins continuing his association with Nick Rockett.

All the main fancies have been declared, including Grangeclare West, the Dan Skelton-trained mare Panic Attack plus last year’s fourth Iroko and Jagwar, another two McManus-owned horses trained by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero.

Willie Mullins, who had nine horse engaged on Monday, has declared all of them. There was a surprise declaration in Spillane’s Tower who has also been declared to run in the Bowl at Aintree on Thursday.
