Liverpool transfer news: Path clear for £43m signing as Marc Guehi decision made

Liverpool have been linked with several potential signings in the January transfer window as Reds face competition questions

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a number of potential new signings as the January transfer window continues. The Reds have until February 2 to finalise their transfer dealings, after which they’ll have to wait until the summer to bolster their squad.

Currently sitting fourth in the Premier League table, Arne Slot’s team are gearing up for their upcoming top-flight clash against Burnley at Anfield this weekend.

A few players have been rumoured to be on Liverpool’s radar ahead of the deadline, particularly in defence where the Reds have faced numerous injury setbacks this season.

Both Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are set to spend the remainder of the season recovering from knee injuries, while striker Alexander Isak is also on the mend from a fractured fibula and ankle injury sustained in December.

Marc Guehi stance

Liverpool are not anticipated to compete with Manchester City for the signature of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. The Reds attempted to secure Guehi last summer with a £35million bid, but the deal fell through on deadline day.

Guehi is now on the brink of sealing a deal with Manchester City, with a transfer fee around the £20m mark, as reported by various outlets.

The ECHO understands that the Reds are unlikely to challenge City for Guehi’s signature, as the potential move doesn’t present a market opportunity for the current Premier League champions.

Malick Fofana boost

Liverpool have been linked with Malick Fofana in the past, and fresh updates have surfaced about the Lyon forward’s future.

BILD’s Bundesliga reporter Christian Falk has revealed that Bayern Munich are not competing for Fofana’s signature, despite having sent scouts to monitor the 20-year-old.

Consequently, Bayern are reportedly no longer interested in signing Fofana, which could give Liverpool an advantage if they decide to bring the £43m-rated Belgian international to Anfield.
