Yuka Momiki scores twice as Everton cruise past West Brom to reach fifth round of Adobe Women’s FA Cup

MOMIKI LEADS TOFFEES TO DOMINANT VICTORY

Yuka Momiki’s first-half brace sent Everton on the way to a dominant victory over West Brom in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at the Alexander Stadium.

The Japanese forward latched onto Toni Payne’s through-ball to put the Toffees in front after nine minutes and then unleashed an unstoppable effort to give the Super League side a comfortable lead at the break.

While West Brom would have hoped to change things after the break, instead Everton looked even more dominant with substitute Melissa Lawley creating two goals in the next eight minutes.

Running down the left wing she first pulled back for Maria Vignola and then squared for Payne to finally get on the scoresheet after she missed two gilt-edged chances before the break.

The fifth came five minutes before the hour mark through Issy Hobson, who netted her first goal of the season, as Everton became the first team to go into the hat for the fifth round.

FULL TIME! WEST BROM 0-5 EVERTON

Dominant victory for Everton. They cruise into the fifth round of the Cup.

90+4′ LAWLEY DRIBBLES INTO THE BOX

But she can’t get a shot away.

90′ SIX MINUTES OF INJURY TIME TO BE PLAYED

I don’t think either side would have welcomed that sign. Though it probably could have been longer.

90′ MOMIKI GIVEN PLAYER OF THE MATCH!

The correct call. She effectively took the match away from West Brom with her first-half brace.

88′ JONES SHOOTS FROM 25 YARDS OUT

It was a fairly tame effort though drifting well wide of the target.

85′ SORRENTINO IS STRETCHERED OFF

And the came will now resume.

82′ PULLEN TO COME ON FOR SORRENTINO

A lot of standing around as they wait for the unfortunate player to be taken off.

77′ SORRENTINO DOWN INJURED

The West Brom substitute seems to be in some distress.

73′ MAY TURNS AND SHOOTS FOR HOSTS

But her effort is deflected off Hobson and over the bar.

71′ DOUBLE CHANGE FOR ALBION!

Oakley and Warner are replaced by Sorrentino and May.

67′ LAWLEY WITH A FINE EFFORT!

And it needed a good stop from Clarke diving to her left to push away at her near post.

63′ TRIPLE CHANGE FOR EVERTON

Sorensen looking to save legs. Payne, Mace and Pacheco come off. They are replaced by Jones, Kitagawa and Blundell.

60′ WHEELER TRIES TO SQUEEZE SHOT IN

George manages to come across and deflect her effort into the side netting.

57′ MACE GOES INTO THE BOOK!

In her desire to get the ball she clashes into Robinson who just pushed the ball past her.

55′ GOAL! WEST BROM 0-5 EVERTON (HOBSON)

Again the goal is built on the left flank with Pacheco this time on the by-line pulling back for Hobson to beat Clarke from eight yards out for her first goal of the season.

53′ GOAL! WEST BROM 0-4 EVERTON (PAYNE)

She could have had two in the first half but she now gets on the scoresheet slotting home past Clarke after great work from Lawley who again races down the left and squares to set up a chance which the striker puts away.

52′ ORTHODOXOU SHOOTS FROM 20 YARDS OUT

But the effort never looked like dipping under the crossbar.

50′ GOAL! WEST BROM 0-3 EVERTON (VIGNOLIA)

Lawley gets to the by-line on the left flank and pulls back to Vignolia who coolly curls an effort inside the top left-hand corner from 12 yards out.

46′ EVERTON SUBSTITUTION!

Lawley replaces Galli in the Everton midfield.

WEST BROM GET THE SECOND HALF UNDERWAY

Can they make Everton sweat in this half?

HALF TIME!

A very comfortable lead for Everton. It is hard to see West Brom getting back into this.

45+8′ PAYNE MISSES AGAIN

Twice in a minute. Another long ball over the top finds her and she has time to line up a shot with her left foot but puts it wide of Clarke’s goal.

45+7′ PAYNE SHOULD HAVE SCORED

She ran onto a through-ball from Hobson and went around Clarke but, admittedly from a narrow angle, missed the open goal.

45+4′ REYNOLDS GOES INTO THE BOOK!

She is cautioned for a foul on Pacheco.

45′ EIGHT MINUTES OF INJURY TIME TO BE PLAYED

West Brom will be happy to get to the interval without more damage being inflicted.

43′ PAYNE’S LOW CROSS BEGGING FOR TAP IN

She drilled a low ball three yards from goal which went past Clarke but no Toffee was there to tap home.

39′ WEST BROM UNLUCKY NOT TO HAVE CORNER

Warner chased after a long ball and it appeared Fernandez kicked out for a corner but a goal kick was given. About as good as it could have got for the hosts.

34′ GOAL! WEST BROM 0-2 EVERTON (MOMIKI)

A wonderful second for the Japanese forward. She had time to run towards the West Brom penalty area and let fly and unleashes an unstoppable dipping effort home.

32′ OFF THE POST! TWICE!

Pachecho’s over-hit cross beat Clarke, came back off the post, off Clarke, then off the post again and into Clarke’s arms. Bizarre.

30′ A POOR VENUE FOR FOOTBALL

An athletics stadium never works that well for football and it doesn’t help with the atmosphere.

26′ JUST OFFSIDE…

Momiki lobbed a ball over the top for Pacheco in the penalty area but she was just offside. In any case she shot over the bar on the half-volley.

23′ WEST BROM LOOKLING MORE SETTLED NOW

They have yet to have a shot on goal, but are at least looking solid behind the ball.

19′ MACE TRIES TO FLICK HOME LOW CORNER

She backheels cleverly at the front post but it only hits the side-netting.

17′ GALLI TRIES TO HEAD HOME AT BACK POST

The ball is just taken off her by Orthodoxou.

14′ MOMIKI WITH GREAT CHANCE TO MAKE IT TWO

She had a chance to line up her shot form eight yards out but her effort was probably heading wider before it hit Creaney.

9′ GOAL! WEST BROM 0-1 EVERTON (MOMIKI)

A classy finish from the forward. She was involved earlier in the move and then flicked home past Clarke after breaking the offside trap running onto Payne’s through ball.

5' WHEELER REPLACES HOLMGAARD

As expected the Everton midfielder is replaced.

3′ EARLY INJURY…

Everton sent a corner into he box and it looks like Holmgaard could have an unfortunate injury after a fairly innocuous challenge.

1′ EVERTON GET THE MATCH UNDERWAY

THE PLAYERS ARE ON THE FIELD

The action is about to get underway.

HOW WEST BROM GOT HERE…

This is Everton’s first game in the tournament, but West Brom have played three matches to get here beating Solihull Moors, Cambridge and Leeds, scoring nine goals and not conceding a goal.
