Liverpool are reportedly targeting Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi and Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven – as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his defensive options.

Liverpool are in a pivotal stage of their season under the guidance of head coach Arne Slot, following a testing campaign for the Premier League champions. An unbeaten streak of 11 matches has propelled them into pole position in the race for top-four, and Champions League qualification, while they also remain in the hunt to side-step the dreaded play-offs in Europe’s premier competition.
The Reds welcome Burnley to Anfield on Saturday (3pm) followed by consecutive away games against Marseille and Bournemouth. They then return to home turf to take on Azerbaijani underdogs Qarabag, kicking off a trio of back-to-back clashes at Anfield with Newcastle United and Manchester City set to visit Merseyside at the end of January and start of February.
Injury woes continue to plague Liverpool, with their situation worsening after confirmation that Conor Bradley is ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a serious knee injury. The Northern Ireland international has since undergone surgery to sort the issue.

Marc Guehi stance outlined
According to Florian Plettenberg, Oliver Glasner’s team are asking for between £35million and £40million for the England international, if they are to sell this month, as it presents the last chance to recoup some funds from the 25-year-old’s successful spell at Selhurst Park.
Guehi’s contract is set to expire this summer, and his anticipated move to Anfield was thwarted when the south London club decided against it.
Despite their surprising defeat to National League North side Macclesfield in the third round, there’s still much at stake for the FA Cup holders, with the UEFA Conference League knock-out stages looming.
Plettenberg has suggested Manchester City might make a move for Guehi to address their own injury problems.
However, Guehi seems to prefer a transfer which would allow him to complete his contract in London. Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Arsenal are listed as interested parties.
Micky van de Ven claim
Micky van de Ven has become a crucial player for Tottenham Hotspur, but the north London club may have a battle on their hands to retain the Dutchman.
Liverpool had shown some interest in the defender before his initial move to the Premier League. Now, at 24, he has established himself as one of the best defenders in England’s top division. However, rumours are circulating that the centre-back may not be content at Spurs.
Currently languishing in the lower half of the table, manager Thomas Frank is feeling the heat following the club’s disappointing start to his tenure, which also saw them knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round by Aston Villa. Caught Offside has reported that van de Ven is even contemplating a move to Liverpool.
The Athletic revealed earlier this week that Liverpool are eyeing further defensive reinforcements in the upcoming transfer windows, with Ibrahima Konate expected to depart at season’s end and captain Virgil van Dijk entering the final year of his contract in June.
It costs Tsimikas speculation
Reports from Italy suggest that Roma could be in the market for a left-back, with Kostas Tsimikas – potentially – making a return to Liverpool.
The Greek international has only made 10 appearances for the Serie A side since joining them on loan, having fallen out of favour following Milos Kerkez’s summer move from Bournemouth.
Checco Casano, of Rete Sport in Italy, has reported that Tsimikas could make a comeback to Liverpool, as Roma search for a replacement. However, their challenge lies in identifying the right player, with Jaouen Hadjam among the potential candidates.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.
