Klopp considers Real Madrid job

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given “serious consideration” to the Real Madrid job, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The German has been linked with the job following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso with Alvaro Arbeloa stepping in as his immediate replacement.

Plettenberg wrote: “Klopp is currently working as the head of global soccer for Red Bull but, despite his long-term contract there, Real Madrid holds a major appeal for the former Liverpool manager.

“If the Spanish club were to make a serious move, Klopp would give it serious consideration, Sky Germany has learned.

“Sky Germany revealed on December 11 that Klopp was a candidate for the Real Madrid job should Alonso be dismissed.”

Klopp left Liverpool in 2024, saying he was “running out of energy” after winning six trophies with the club including the Premier League and Champions League. He joined Red Bull in January last year.

Bayern ‘make contact’ with Guehi

Bayern Munich have approached Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi’s representatives, according to Plettenberg.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with Liverpool and Manchester City but a switch to the Bundesliga could be an option.

Plettenberg wrote on X: “Max Eberl has made new phone calls regarding Marc Guehi in recent days, trying to convince him of a move to FC Bayern in summer.

“A few weeks ago, there was already a meeting between Eberl and Guehi‘s agent at Sabener Strasse, as revealed.

“FC Bayern are not giving up. Manchester City remain interested for the winter, while Liverpool are pushing for the summer. An open race.”

Fiorentina want Leeds winger

Serie A strugglers Fiorentina hope to sign Leeds winger Jack Harrison this month, according to Sky Sport Italy.

The outlet reports: “Fiorentina’s third signing is looming, following the arrivals of (Manor) Solomon and (Marco) Brescianini.

“The deal also includes 29-year-old Jack Harrison, a winger from Leeds. The deal will conclude with a loan with an obligation to buy.

“Fiorentina are upping their game in the league, but a profound shakeup continues in the transfer market as well.

“(Paolo) Vanoli’s new formation requires attacking wingers, and so, after the arrival of Solomon from Villarreal and Brescianini in midfield, Jack Harrison, an English forward from Leeds, is also approaching.

“The 29-year-old winger is reportedly joining Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy. News on the deal is expected in the next few hours.”

Roma and Atletico battle to sign Villa attacker

Roma and Atletico Madrid both want to sign Aston Villa forward Donyell Malen, according to Sky Sport Italy.

The Serie A side had been favourites to secure his signature but Atletico are now reportedly interested after selling attacker Giacomo Raspadori – also a previous target for Roma – to Atalanta.

The report reads: “After seeing Raspadori, who was destined for Atalanta, slip away, Roma are now accelerating their efforts to close a deal with Aston Villa for Donyell Malen.

“Atletico Madrid could be the ones to swoop in on the Dutch striker, with the money they received from Atalanta for Raspadori.

“Roma is currently working on finalizing all agreements with the club and the player to avoid the Spaniards’ arrival.

“If the Yellow and red close the deal, the player could be in Rome as early as tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14, to begin his adventure in Italy.”
