Need to know
Liverpool are heavily linked with a number of transfer targets this month as the Reds aim to bolster their squad ahead of the rest of the season
The transfer targets linked with Liverpool in January and how they could fare at Anfield
- Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace) 10/10: After a move collapsed last summer, talks are reportedly underway again between the two clubs. However, wage demands and competition from Manchester City and Real Madrid remain hurdles but Liverpool may look to secure Guehi before he becomes a free agent in the summer.
- Ousmane Diomande (Sporting CP) 8/10: Identified as a ‘priority target’ and potential successor to Konate. But with Guehi as the main defensive addition to the squad, this transfer may take a backseat if talks heat up around the England international.
- Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) 7/10: Liverpool are keeping an eye on the highly-rated midfielder alongside the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid. If the LaLiga giants make a concrete move for Ryan Gravenberch then this transfer could happen sooner than planned for Wharton, but it is more likely a summer move.
- Memphis Depay (Corinthians) 5/10: Surprise reports have linked the veteran striker with a move to Anfield. The former United striker has been linked as a potential short-term replacement for the injured Alexander Isak to support Hugo Ekitike.
- Joel Ordonez (Club Brugge) 4/10: Reports from Ecuador on New Year’s Day suggested that Ordonez was on the verge of joining the Reds from Club Brugge. However, this seems to have gone up in smoke as it has been confirmed that the defender will be with the squad for a week-long training camp in Spain.
- Nathan Collins (Brentford) 6/10: Collins is emerging as a Premier League-proven alternative to Guehi if a deal is not concluded in January. The Brentford captain has been impressive for his club but it remains to be seen if they will be willing to sell such an important part of their squad this month.
