Liverpool are in the race for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande as Manchester United circle the £86m-rated forward, while Federico Chiesa is reportedly texting former teammates about a return to Turin.

The January transfer window is heating up, with Liverpool at the heart of several stories. Despite a summer of significant spending, including the acquisitions of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, the Reds are still being linked with further arrivals in the winter window.
Liverpool suffered another injury setback on Thursday night when full-back Conor Bradley was forced to leave the pitch during the 0-0 draw with Arsenal. This has amplified the need for additional squad members.
It’s a swift turnaround for Arne Slot and his team, who return to action on Monday evening as they face League One Barnsley in the third round of the FA Cup.
While Slot and the team will be focusing on the pitch, work will be ongoing behind the scenes in the transfer window. Here’s a glimpse at some of the latest stories circulating in and around Anfield.
Federico Chiesa exit
In other news, Tuttosport reports that Federico Chiesa has been reaching out to former teammates about a potential January move. The Italian winger is said to be open to a return to Turin and has been in touch with Dusan Vlahovic, Manuel Locatelli and Federico Gatti.
To secure Chiesa’s return, Juventus would need to fork out €10m (£8.9m), after receiving €15m (£13.3m) from his sale to Anfield in 2024. Liverpool are reportedly only considering a permanent transfer, ruling out a loan deal with an option to buy.
Chiesa himself is not entertaining other offers, having only expressed interest in a possible return to Juventus.
Man United transfer hijack
Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign RB Leipzig’s young talent Yan Diomande, joining a host of clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, PSG and Barcelona.
United are believed to have already made a bid, but it falls short of Leipzig’s £86million asking price. With four and a half years left on his contract, the Bundesliga club holds a strong negotiating position.
Leipzig are not looking to sell this month, with the summer transfer window providing a more favourable opportunity for a sale, having only signed him back in the summer.
It’s reported that United are already in talks with the forward about a five-year contract, with an option to extend for another year.
Liverpool confirm transfer
Liverpool have announced the signing of defender Mor Talla Ndiaye, pending international clearance. The Senegal youth international joins the Reds’ under-21 side from Amitie FC, which is owned by former Newcastle United and Chelsea striker Demba Ba.
Ndiaye represented his country at the under-17 World Cup last year and helped his team reach the knockout stages.
Liverpool plan for Ndiaye to strengthen the Reds’ defensive options at youth level. This move compensates for the fact that Wellity Lucky is now a regular feature in the senior squad, given the club’s shortages there throughout the season.
Links continue to arise over other options for the senior team, however, with Marc Guehi still featuring prominently as a name who could bolster the ranks.
