Rashford to leave United for good

Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana are all likely to be moved on permanently in the future, according to The Sun.

“Rashford and team-mates Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana have all been allowed to leave on loan under Amorim’s 14-month tenure, which ended on Monday.

“But SunSport understands the decision to send these players on loan went beyond Amorim and therefore his departure is likely to change little.

“In Spain he has rediscovered his form and scored seven times this season while also bagging eight assists in 25 appearances.

“But his time at Old Trafford appears to be over no matter which manager is in charge after senior officials ruled they needed to improve the dressing room culture.”

Solskjaer linked with United return

The Daily Mail believes that both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ruud van Nistelrooy may be given the gig on a temporary basis.

“Solskjaer’s success as a temporary replacement for Jose Mourinho in December 2018 led to him landing the job on a permanent basis for almost another three years before he was sacked in November 2021.

“After United axed Ruben Amorim on Monday, Daily Mail Sport understands that the 52-year-old Norwegian is high on the shortlist of potential replacements to take over until the end of the season, which is also said to include another former United striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy.

“United insiders have stressed that there are several other candidates being considered, and there is no outright favourite at this stage. Meanwhile, sources close to Solskjaer were staying tight-lipped on Tuesday.”

City consider Guehi offer in January

Manchester City may make a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi earlier than they had anticipated.

They had considered waiting until the summer when he will be a free transfer, but could now try to sign him in the current transfer window.

“Mirror Sport revealed on September 15 that City were ready to rival Liverpool for Guehi at the end of the season – but now they have an even bigger need for him to plug the gap this month.

“It remains to be seen whether City will make a formal offer, but there is clear interest in the defender who came so close to joining Liverpool at the end of the transfer window last summer.”

Sterling wants permanent move away

Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling is still not interested in moving away from the club on a temporary basis.

Despite being frozen out of first-team action at Stamford Bridge, he only wants a permanent move to end his time with the club.

“The England international is Chelsea’s highest-paid player, on over £300,000 a week, and his contract does not expire until the summer next year. Chelsea sources say the club are in regular dialogue and working to find a solution.

“Defender Axel Disasi, who has also been frozen out, is up for sale or could be loaned. Chelsea can only consider domestic loans, though, because they have already used up their six international slots (unless they recall one of those).

“Winger Tyrique George has plenty of interest from clubs across Europe, but nothing is imminent. The player is not pushing to leave, and if he is to depart Stamford Bridge, it would need to be for a place where he gets plenty of game time.”
