Mikel Arteta has provided a worrying update on Gabriel Magalhaes\u2019 injury after he was forced off during Arsenal\u2019s defeat to Southampton. <\/p>\n

Arteta admitted after the match that he is concerned about the Brazilian\u2019s injury, saying it\u2019s \u2018never good news\u2019 when a player asks to be substituted. <\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI don\u2019t know \u2013 he felt something. \u201cDon\u2019t know exactly what it is, but we\u2019re going to have to assess him.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, when a player is asking to be substituted, it\u2019s never good news.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gabriel missed six Premier League matches this season after suffering a hamstring injury in November. <\/p>\n

He has now picked up another issue in a big blow for Arsenal. <\/p>\n

Gabriel has been a key first-team player, starting 24 league matches and making seven direct goal contributions. <\/p>\n

The Brazilian\u2019s injury has come at a crucial stage of the campaign as Arsenal are aiming to lift their first Premier League title since 2004. <\/p>\n

The Gunners have fallen short in the title race in each of the last three seasons, but they are currently nine points clear at the top of the league table. <\/p>\n

With seven matches remaining, they cannot afford any slip-ups. <\/p>\n
