Gary Lineker has accused Thomas Tuchel of making a \u2018really insulting\u2019 decision with his final England squad before the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Tuchel named an expanded 35-man squad for the March friendlies against Uruguay and Japan and insisted the international break represented the \u2018last chance\u2019 for players to book their spots on the plane.<\/p>\n

The England boss called up two uncapped players in Everton midfielder James Garner and Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele.<\/p>\n

There were recalls for Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo, AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori, Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Tottenham\u2019s Dominic Solanke.<\/p>\n

Trent Alexander-Arnold was overlooked, however, and suffered another snub when Tuchel called up Arsenal\u2019s Ben White to replace the injured Jarell Quansah.<\/p>\n

Alexander-Arnold left boyhood club Liverpool last summer to join Real Madrid, where he has started to impress after a shaky start to his Bernabeu career.<\/p>\n

Lineker believes Tuchel must have a \u2018personal\u2019 issue with Alexander-Arnold and says it is \u2018really insulting\u2019 that he is behind White in the pecking order.<\/p>\n

White has not been involved with England since leaving the Three Lions camp during the 2022 World Cup for personal reasons.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old has not exactly been knocking the door down endlessly this season, only making seven Premier League appearances for leaders Arsenal.<\/p>\n

\u2018You\u00a0obviously\u00a0know\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0a big admirer of Trent,\u2019 Lineker said on The Rest is Football podcast<\/a>. \u2018I think\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0something personal, because football-wise,\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0no argument.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0see how he\u00a0can\u00a0not\u00a0be in that squad because he\u00a0has to\u00a0improve your chances, even if\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0from the bench.<\/p>\n

\u2018So\u00a0I suspect\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0something that Tuchel does not like about Trent Alexander-Arnold,\u00a0I\u2019d\u00a0just\u00a0be\u00a0guessing in terms of what it might be, whether\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0his attitude\u00a0or he thinks\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0not brilliant defensively.<\/p>\n

\u2018There\u00a0has to\u00a0be something in that because it makes absolutely no sense.\u00a0You\u2019ve\u00a0got players playing in his position, with all due respect, that are not in the same league as him, certainly with the ball at his feet.<\/p>\n

\u2018As you saw in\u00a0these kind of games, you need someone\u00a0with\u00a0a bit of magic to unlock things, and he will provide you that.<\/p>\n

\u2018So\u00a0it\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0make sense to me. I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know whether\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0his attitude or what\u00a0it is.\u00a0I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know.<\/p>\n

\u2018But I find it quite insulting looking at the players he\u2019s brought in. We talk about the Ben White situation, for example, and he\u2019s\u00a0not wanted to play for England before.<\/p>\n

\u2018Now I\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0judge him on that because we\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0really know\u00a0what\u2019s\u00a0happened in the camp before and his reasons for not playing.<\/p>\n

\u2018That\u2019s all fine but I\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0see how he can still be ahead of Trent, I think\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0really insulting to a seriously top full-back.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0my view.\u2019<\/p>\n

White scored his first England goal in the 1-1 draw with Uruguay on Friday night. Tuchel\u2019s side will be hoping for a better result and performance on Tuesday when they face Japan.<\/p>\n

A significant section of England fans subjected White to boos during the game and ex-captain Jordan Henderson has vowed to \u2018support\u2019 the Arsenal defender.<\/p>\n

\u2018As team-mates we are always there to support,\u2019 Henderson said. \u2018I have been through it myself, but that is part and parcel of being an England player.<\/p>\n

\u2018Some of the fans probably don\u2019t even know why they are booing, they listen to what is being said in the media, and a lot of the time what the media says isn\u2019t true.<\/p>\n

\u2018Not many people know the ins and outs of what happened in Qatar and it is for us to deal with internally. Ben has been good since he came back in and we will support him as team-mates.\u2019<\/p>\n
