The world No. 2 recently featured at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio, where he shared a tie for 12th place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The 37-year-old scored four under par as he gears up for the third major of the year. However, McIlroy will not be part of the field for this week&#8217;s Canadian Open after choosing to fly back to England.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The two-time Masters champion made the 3,650-mile journey from Dublin, Ohio to Wentworth as he settles into his new home. The golfer will spend a total of six days at his mansion on the exclusive Surrey estate before jetting off on another approximate 3,500-mile journey to Southampton, New York, for the US Open at Shinnecock Hills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The decision to spend time at his family home means McIlroy will miss the opportunity to compete at the Canadian Open, which has a total prize pot of \u00a37.3million. The six-bedroom mansion has been extended and transformed as the couple and their daughter Poppy relocate from Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">McIlroy and Stoll had been living in a luxurious \u00a316.5m mansion in Jupiter, Florida, since buying the property from golf legend Ernie Els in 2017. While the Jupiter community was filled with famous stars, none quite match the prestige of the PGA Tour star&#8217;s latest neighbour, the Sultan of Brunei.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The new McIlroy residence sits among several other high-profile figures, including Elton John and Cliff Richard. The golfer has struggled with driver inconsistency throughout the season but remains hopeful about the upcoming US Open.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Off the tee still wasn&#8217;t where I want it to be,&#8221; McIlroy explained. &#8220;Thankfully, the fairways at Shinnecock are a little wider than they are here. But, yeah, still need to work on that. I need to work on how I&#8217;m hitting it off the tee.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He continued: &#8220;I get a little bit underneath the plane on the way down and then from there I try to drag the handle to match it up, and then I get toe strikes, and then the toe strikes are \u2013 like, so if I&#8217;m aiming a touch left trying to hit a cut and I get a touch underneath it and then I try to save it by dragging the handle, I hit it off the toe and then it goes left.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;But then if I try to hit with one with a draw or pretty neutral, I&#8217;ll still get a little bit underneath it, and I&#8217;ll release it and it will overturn a little bit. But I have to try to get the club back out in front of me.
