{"id":2416,"date":"2026-04-13T08:57:47","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T08:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/disport.com.ng\/?p=2416"},"modified":"2026-04-13T08:57:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T08:57:47","slug":"michael-owen-names-biggest-reason-why-arsenal-win-pip-man-city-to-ultimate-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/disport.com.ng\/?p=2416","title":{"rendered":"Michael Owen names biggest reason why Arsenal win pip Man City to ultimate prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Michael Owen retains complete faith that Arsenal will get over the line and win their first Premier League title in more than 20 years, with Manchester City\u2019s tougher away fixtures ultimately proving a telling factor.<\/p>\n<p>Pep Guardiola\u2019s side laid down a significant marker at Stamford Bridge on Sunday after crushing Champions League chasing Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge, to close the gap at the top to six points.<\/p>\n<p>If <strong>Man City<\/strong> then win next weekend\u2019s titanic tussle between the two at The Etihad this coming Sunday, that will gap will be down to three, while Pep\u2019s men will also still retain a game in hand over <strong>Arsenal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Gunners have been struggling since their Carabao Cup final loss last month, losing three of their last four games in all competitions, the latest of which was a home meltdown against Bournemouth that opened the door for City.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: Arsenal fan boos show \u2018peak entitlement\u2019 at \u2018squeaky glum time\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite their recent struggles, former Liverpool and England striker <strong>Owen<\/strong> has backed Arsenal to produce a response at City and ultimately end their wait for top-flight title success and be crowned champions come the end of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cI think Manchester City have got the slightly more difficult games. They\u2019ve got Bournemouth away, they\u2019ve got Everton away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are two tough games. However, when you look at this weekend we thought Arsenal at home to Bournemouth and City away at Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything is pointing to City, the momentum, the record of Pep Guardiola, the experience of the players, the current form, City at home against Arsenal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the toss of the coin but I think Arsenal might just nick it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Owen also defended Arsenal against the accusation of being serial bottlers, having finished runners-up over the last three seasons.<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"04742eb90cefa12a5e3ab9bae92c2b93\" image-id=\"neimQFc09caj\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cI must say I\u2019ve been defending Arsenal to lots of people who always say they always bottle. Do they?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can remember when Manchester City when they won the Premier League for the first time a long time ago they would be coming third and second and getting closer and closer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLiverpool came second a few times.
