As a result, multiple storylines have been developing in parallel.

From Old Trafford’s search for reinforcements to Arsenal’s long-term planning and Newcastle’s financial muscle, all three clubs have positioned themselves around the same target.

However, despite that sustained attention from England, the situation is now taking a different turn.

Premier League interest meets Italian resistance

Manchester United’s involvement has been the most structurally advanced. The Red Devils have already explored a deal with Atalanta in recent months. That included previous contact over Éderson, alongside discussions that could also involve Joshua Zirkzee moving in the opposite direction.

With Casemiro expected to leave and uncertainty around Manuel Ugarte, United are clearly in the market for midfielders. Éderson, who has operated as a number eight in Bergamo, fits that profile.

At the same time, Arsenal have been consistently present in the background. Their interest has been strengthened by Andrea Berta’s role behind the scenes, given his long-standing appreciation of the player from his Atlético Madrid days.

Newcastle Unitedmeanwhile, represent the third English angle. Their financial capacity has made them a recurring threat in deals of this size, even if their negotiating stance has already been described elsewhere as difficult to match.

Atlético Madrid plan stalls as Éderson decision emerges

In a new development reported by ASAtlético Madrid’s attempt to sign Éderson has hit a standstill.

Crucially, the report claims the midfielder had already personally rejected approaches from several clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United, as well as teams in Italy and Brazil. His preference was to move to the Spanish side.

At one stage in February, there was even a verbal agreement in place. The idea was clear – Éderson would become a key piece in Diego Simeone’s midfield for the coming years.

However, talks have now entered what is described as an “impasse”.

The issue is no longer just between clubs. Without a full agreement with the player, the transfer cannot move forward. In recent weeks, negotiations have cooled, with the player no longer willing to accept any conditions just to complete the move.

Price, timing and pressure building

Atalanta’s stance remains firm. The Italian side value Éderson at around €45m (£38.7m), and they are not keen to lower that easily.

Still, there is a layer of pressure. His contract runs until 2027, meaning this summer represents the final opportunity to secure a major fee. That reality is pushing the club to consider a sale sooner rather than later.

Atlético Madrid are trying to reduce the price. Meanwhile, they are also refusing to rush or give in to agent demands.

From the Premier League perspective, this creates a window of opportunity. English clubs have greater financial flexibility, and they were already in the picture before being turned down.

What happens next

Éderson’s situation is now more open than it looked a few weeks ago. His initial preference for Atlético Madrid is clear, but the breakdown in talks changes the dynamic.

Now clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United may yet find a way back in. At the same time, Atalanta’s need to sell before the contract situation worsens adds urgency.

There is still a long way to go before the summer window fully unfolds. For now, what seemed like a straightforward move to Spain has become a multi-club battle again – but the Premier League seems to have lost momentum.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United have all been circling Atalanta midfielder Éderson for months,

[1

post-2294","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-arsenal
["GET
