I Am Maximus claimed victory in Saturday’s Grand National as the favourite romped home to claim the Aintree showpiece yet again.<\/p>\n
The 9\/2 favourite was heavily backed but justified the punters’ confidence as he chased down Jordans, who had jumped the last in the lead, to win once again. He was victorious two years ago before finishing second last year, and will now don the crown once again.<\/p>\n
Jockey Paul Townend backed up his Cheltenham Gold Cup victory with success in the Grand National as his stunning season continued. Jordans would eventually finish in third after Iroko also passed him to finish second.<\/p>\n
Johnnywho came home in fourth with High Class Hero a long price place as he ended in fifth at a price of 66\/1.<\/p>\n
I Am Maximus became the first top weight horse to win the Grand National since the iconic Red Rum back in 1974. It also completed a hat-trick of wins for trainer Willie Mullins, the first trainer since Vincent O’Brien between 1963 and 1965 to win this race three years in succession.<\/p>\n
