Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was driving the boxer as well as Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami in a black Lexus Jeep on Monday morning before eventually colliding with a stationary truck parked at the side of the Lagos\u2013Ibadan Expressway. The driver was discharged from a hospital in Lagos late on New Year’s Eve and was reportedly taken two hours north to Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state.<\/p>\n
It is believed that he was questioned for several hours as well as giving an official statement of what he said in the minutes leading up to the crash – which claimed the lives of Ghami and Ayodele. Adeniyi was declared wanted by police after fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n
In an update on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi revealed in a statement that the driver has been charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court. “The defendant was granted bail in the sum of five million naira ($3,480) with two sureties. He was remanded pending when he meets his bail condition,” Babaseyi told AFP.<\/p>\n
