The National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress on Wednesday night suspended their ongoing strike which commenced in the early hours of Tuesday.
Report reaching us has it that the meeting which commenced at a few minutes past 7pm lasted for close to an hour during which various affiliates and state chapters reviewed the outcome of the meeting held between the leaders of the organised labour and Ribadu.
The strike was suspended following the intervention of the Federal Government through the Office of the National Security Adviser, (NSA). Report has it that those who attacked the NLC President in Imo State have been arrested which was one of the reasons for the strike while further discussion on the other labour issues will continue.
A letter suspending the strike was addressed to the various unions and affiliates.
The National Deputy Vice-President of the TUC, Tommy Etim, made this known in an interview with correspondents in Abuja.
By this development, all labour and trade unions including the various affiliates are to resume duty.
